Happy Halloween!

We're all suffering from a bit of a candy/cake hangover this morning, but another excellent Halloween. Charlie showed almost no fear this year in going up to door and almost always remembered to say "trick or treat" and "thank you" without prompting. Charlie was really into giving out candy - she got to a point where she wouldn't let us go to the door, and she was answering it herself. She even used our script, "Hi! Happy Halloween! You can take two pieces."

For the second year, I made Charlie's costume from a pattern. This year -- mermaid. A much simpler pattern than last year's Dorothy. The skirt was a bit too long, and even with some safety pins to hold it up during trick-or-treating, the fins became a problem as she went up and down stairs. The lining of the fins was completely ripped out by the end of the night, but Charlie didn't seem to care too much.

We went out trick-or-treating with our neighbors Carly (7) and Rachel (2.5). Lots of swishing skirts and shiny satin.
And, of course, we also wished Chris a very happy birthday (39!!)
My candy "rule" on Halloween is that Charlie may eat as much candy as she wants. She can eat until she pukes. Beginning the day after Halloween, she is only allowed one piece a day. Charlie seemed to think that my permission to eat until she was sick was a challenge, and she went for it. Below are the wrappers from the candy consumed in less than four hours - not shown are the wrappers from two pieces she ate while out and about. Luckily, no puking just a whole lot of giddiness.
