This Is Summer

Slacker here, again.  These photos are June and on.  Maybe even earlier.  I resolve to do better.

Charlie took a cooking class one day a week after school and became quite the little chef.

We took a great trip to the Zoo after school on one of the last days and found all the chimps taking a snooze.
 Silly hair morning!

More cooking.  Charlie made us a grain salad doing all of the prep herself.  My only contribution was to cook the quinoa.  And, this time, Juliet got in on the action.  She's pretty handy - last night she actively helped me make pesto by picking the leaves off the stems, drying the washed leaves, putting them into the food processor and working the machine.  Perhaps it's only a matter of time before Chris and I can sit back and let the girls make us dinner.

Two new gelatto places in our 'hood.  We spent a delightful night eating gelatto, ignoring bedtimes, and playing in the early evening sunshine.

Last days of school:  Writers' celebration; Field Day; and the end of first grade!

Somehow, remarkably, Charlie and her best friends are all in the same class next year.  Good Luck, Mrs. Easley!  Ellen, Charlie, Carly, and Kate.

Father's Day at Novelty Golf.

Just a few of the many neighborhood kids who ride their scooters up and down the block.  Checking out the yard beneath the train tracks in search of bunny rabbits.

 Sunny days call for sunglasses!

 And, ice cream.

Go, Cubs!

And, lastly, check out that bedhead!
