Dan Zanes: Charlie's 1st rock-n-roll crush

Another first for Charlie this weekend -- her first real live rock and roll show. Sure, it was Dan Zanes & Friends, a band geared toward the preschool/elementary school set, and sure, it was at 11:00 a.m. on a Sunday, but it was still at the Somerville Theater a genuine rock show venue. And rock it, Charlie surely did!

Before the show -- getting fancy for Dan Zanes (at the last minute, Charlie decided to leave the small bouquet of flowers at home):
When we found ourselves with a couple of extra tickets (we missed you Buxtons!), we invited Charlie's classmate Kali and her parents to the show. Like Charlie, Kali dressed up for the occasion and both girls were giddy with excitement as the band got ready to take the stage.
After some dancing in their seats, Charlie and Kali headed down the aisle to dance in front of the stage:
Charlie rushed the stage and then stood there mesmerized:
While Zanes was doing thank-yous at the end of the show, Charlie started yelling "Dan Zanes! I need to tell you something! Dan Zanes!". She told me she had to tell him something "quick, quick, quick" and for "just one minute," but refused to tell me the content of her message. Luckily, she got the chance to talk to him after the show. She was nervous, but she was able to say hello and thank you. (FYI, Zanes looks like the lovechild of Steve Martin circa "The Jerk" and Lyle Lovett).
Charlie was ultimately dissatisfied with the amount of face time she got with Dan - clearly, she didn't get to say all she wanted to. We told her that she could draw him a picture, and we'd send it to him, which made Charlie very excited.

Charlie's first fan mail - we'll send it off tomorrow:
